According to the media aide, members of Saraki's team include PDP chieftains such as Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwanbo, Liyel Imoke, Mulikat Akande Adeola, and Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

Recall that Obasanjo, who served his two terms as president under the PDP, tore his membership card publicly in the buildup to the 2015 elections.

The former president subsequently endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 elections.

He, however, withdrew his support for President Buhari prior to the 2019 elections and later said he would no longer be involved in partisan politics.

In a related development, Obasanjo on Sunday, February 28 met with Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello behind closed doors in Abuja.

During the meeting, the former president charged Bello to keep with his good efforts at protecting his state.

It's, however, noted that there are strong speculations that Governor Bello is also interested in the 2023 elections.
