Despite his disappointing exit from office, the immediate past president of the United States, Donald Trump, has been honoured by some of his fellow party men.
According to Reuters, Trump was praised by the US conservatives at the just-concluded gathering of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday, February 26.
The news media stated that the conservatives said Trump remains a political force for the Republican party just as they showed him loyalty.
Speaking at the event, a prominent Republican senator, Ted Cruz, said:
“Let me tell you something: Donald Trump ain’t going anywhere."
Legit.ng gathers that the highlight of the event on Friday was the display of a gold-coloured statue of the former president, dressed in a jacket, red tie and Stars-and-Stripes boxing shorts, at the conference site.
Also, Senator Rick Scott, a Florida Republican, said though Trump has flaws, the former president had made the party more approachable for working-class Americans.
CPAC is an event organized by the American Conservative Union, whose chairman, Matt Schlapp, is close to Trump.
In a related development, Senator Lindsey Graham has described Trump as the future of the Republican party.
Graham disclosed this on Fox News while discussing the impeachment trial and subsequent acquitter in the Senate.
According to him, Senator Mitch McConnell, the leader of the Republicans in the US Senate, should accept Trumpism as the face of the opposition party.

Similarly, Trump, reacting to his acquittal by the Senate late on Saturday, February 13, described the trial as a political witch hunt.
He claimed that no other president in American history had been so maligned as he had by those politically opposed to his views and leadership style.
The former American leader also hinted at a big political return in the months ahead, saying "our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun."
