Boko Haram ambushed General Buratai three times, says Major Banjo

If not for God, Boko Haram terrorists would have deprived Nigerians of their former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.).
This was disclosed by Major Daniel Banjo, (retd.), his former coursemate.
According to him, Buratai was ambushed three times while battling Boko Haram insurgents.
He disclosed this at an interfaith prayer organised for him by the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude.
He added that Buratai's efforts to contain insurgents by the army under his command was not appreciated by Nigerians, Punch reports.

He said:
“He wouldn’t sleep for weeks. He was ambushed three times and he jumped into the bush with his men, with Kalashnikov (AK-47 rifles) and they would be able to kill some and arrest some.”
Oba Oyelude said the people of the community would remain grateful to Buratai for the assistance he rendered towards the completion of a bridge linking the community to Ede.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers state said Nigerians are disappointed in the Senate for confirming the immediate past service chiefs as ambassadors.
Governor Wike said this when members of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, February 24, according to a statement signed and released by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri.
Legit.ng gathers that Governor Wike wondered why the senators who allegedly agreed with Nigerians when they decried the poor performance of the former service chiefs made a U-turn to clear them for another appointment.
Also, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that former service chiefs should face prosecution at the International Criminal Court.
The PDP slammed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Senate for clearing them for ambassadorial portfolios.
The opposition party alleged that the former service chiefs were confirmed as ambassadors despite reports of crime against humanity committed under their command.
