A statement by the Niger state government seen by Legit.ng, quoted Dr. Fayemi as saying there was no other term to describe acts of banditry and kidnapping other than terrorism.
His words:
“The ultimate agenda is to destroy Nigeria, let’s not make any mistake about it. It’s either we succumb to that agenda or fight it with every fibre in our being.”
Recall that one of the victims kidnapped by bandits in Niger, Hajia Jummai Isah, has revealed that there are over 1,000 criminals of the armed men living in thick forests in the state.
Isah who made the revelation while speaking on her ordeal in the hands of the criminal gangs, said the gunmen have different assorted weapons she had never seen in her entire life.
Meanwhile, popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has declared that the federal government knows the hideout of the killer-herdsmen and bandits involved in killings, kidnappings, and other criminal activities across the country.
According to him, security forces have not moved to dislodge the terrorists because the government is playing safe after realising its former approach of attacking the bandits frontally has not yielded positive results.
