Some students have reportedly protested the recent troubles of former governor Rochas Okorocha, the senator representing Imo West senatorial district.

The students are beneficiaries from 12 schools built by Rochas Foundation in Sokoto, Bauchi, Jos, Ogboko, Zaria, Ibadan and other communities where they enjoy free education, scholarship programs and empowerment. The protest was to demand the safety of their benefactor.

The students said in helping them, the former governor did not take their background into consideration, and rendered the help selflessly, thereby creating an assured future for Nigerian children, Leadership reports.

Okorocha has been at loggerheads with his successor, Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The duo are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but remain political rivals despite being in the same party.

Senator Okorocha had earlier claimed Governor Uzodimma sent over 1,000 armed thugs to attack him over the weekend.

Speaking on Sunday, February 21, via his spokesperson, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha also accused police officers attached to Government House Owerri of standing-by and watching his aides assaulted by Uzodinma's aides.

Also, most citizens who reacted to the development believe that things are just working against Okorocha after he allegedly ganged up to oust his successor, Emeka Ihedioha, from office.

Moreover, some believe that his arrest on the order of Governor Uzodinma was a prove that power is transient.

Persons who share the same opinion said some years ago Okorocha called the shots but now he is being questioned by a mere special assistant to the incumbent governor.
