Fear as court delivers judgement on suit seeking arrest of new Ohanaeze Ndigbo leaders

Court has struck out a suit seeking the arrest and trial of executive members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo including the body's president, Prof George Obiozor.
Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja delivered the verdict in a court ruling on Friday, February 19.
The presiding judge argued that the claimant was unable to establish the claim brought before the court which sought the arrest of socio-political group's leaders, The Nation reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the Onyeachonam-led Ohanaeze Indigbo general assembly had dragged Obiozor and other executive members of the Ohanaeze Indigbo to court over alleged contempt.
Onyeachonam, in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/56/2021, also claimed that Obizor-led Ohanaeze was running an illegal organisation.
But while delivering judgement on Friday, Justice Ekwo said he did not see "any justifiable cause in this application." He thereby struck it out.
"I am unable to see any justifiable cause in this application. I think this application, without more, is frivolous and I am unable to lend the judicial powers of this court to encourage such litigations.
"I make an order dismissing this case for lacking in merit."

Meanwhile, in a related development, Legit.ng reported that the impeachment of Jude Agbaso as the deputy governor of Imo state was nullified by the court, with the judgment coming after 8 years after his removal.
In a ruling on Monday, February 15, a presiding judge at the Owerri high court ruled in favour of Agbaso who was the deputy to a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha.
On March 28, 2013, the Imo state House of Assembly had impeached Agbaso over an allegation that he collected N458 million and red label drink as bribes from a construction firm, J- pros.
