Dolly Parton has said no to a statue in her honour. The legendary US singer took to social media recently to share a statement where she addressed the Tennessee legislature.
The state legislature was considering a bill to erect a statue of the music icon on the Capitol grounds. The star declined the offer due to the ongoing pandemic.
In a statement she posted on Twitter on Thursday, February 18, Dolly said:
"I am honoured and humbled by their intention but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration. Given all that is going on in the world, I don't think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time."
