Herdsmen/farmers: FG asks states to compensate victims of crisis
- State governors have been asked to compensate the victims of the herdsmen crisis

The National Economic Council (NEC) has urged the state governments should compensate victims of farmers/herders crises who have lost livelihoods.
The Nation reports that the council, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, also encouraged states to promote the modernisation of livestock farming.
Legit.ng gathered that the decisions were reached on Thursday, February 18, during the meeting at the Old Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, said while speaking on the matter at the post-council meeting briefing, that many people suffered losses in targeted attacks and must be made to have a sense of compensation.
Abiodun said the council re-committed to the protection of all residents without discrimination, adding that governors would also ensure that criminals are arrested and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state allegedly ordered the demolition of a house where over 1,000 rifles were discovered.
It was reported that the building was located in a densely populated area in Bauchi metropolis after security agencies received information from some good Samaritans.
The governor was represented by Dr. Ladan Salihu, his chief of staff, at the demolition exercise on Wednesday, February 17.
Salihu revealed that in one of the rooms in the house, military and immigration uniforms were discovered, adding that the police had commenced an investigation into the matter.
He went on to note that Mohammed gave the order to demolish the building to serve as a lesson to those hoarding arms or criminals in their residences.

In a related report, President Muhammadu Buhari claimed that the violence that ravaged Nigeria especially recently was instigated by a handful of influential persons with resources.
This firm position by the president is contained in a statement issued by one of his media aides, Femi Adesina, which was read at the reception of a delegation of Borno/Yobe elders forum at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
President Buhari added that his chief objective for the nation is to continue working for its stability for the good of all.
