Man 'beats' wife to death over matrimonial issues in Lagos, police take action

- David Idibie, a Lagos resident, has been arrested by the police in the state for allegedly beating his wife to death

- According to the police, the couple had had an altercation over some domestic issues while the wife slumped in the process and sustained a head injury which led to her death

- The matter has been transferred to the appropriate quarters for a thorough investigation

A Lagos resident named David Idibie has beaten his wife, Juliana Idibie, to death, a statement by the Lagos state police command has indicated.

According to the statement signed and released by the command's spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Wednesday, February 17, the incident happened on the night of Tuesday, February 16.

Legit.ng gathers that the deceased had engaged the suspect in a hot argument on certain matrimonial issues and in the process, she slumped and sustained a severe head injury.

Rather than making attempts to rescue her by taking her to the hospital, the angry husband allegedly refused to take any action while the wife lied in her pool of blood until she gave up the ghost.

The police have since arrested the suspect and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary.

Speaking on the incident, the Lagos state police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, condemned the act and vowed to work with other relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to tackle domestic violence in the state.

Odumosu has also ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation.

Meanwhile, Tina Essi, a Lagos female resident, has been arrested by the police on Wednesday, February 10, for allegedly beating a 49-year-old Christian Akparie to death.

The late Akparie was a tenant at No 26 Orijamogun Street, Oreyo, Ikorodu and the property was owned by Essi’s mother.

An argument had ensued between Akparie and Essi on Sunday, January 31, over the payment of electricity bill and the two engaged in a fight.

In other news, a Nigerian policeman seen in a local market on Tuesday, February 16, surprised passers-by when he began preaching in uniform.

The young officer was preaching salvation through Christ Jesus as the source of true prosperity, safety, and wealth.

He proclaimed that unless people come to Christ and abandon their evil ways, they cannot experience victory.
