The US judiciary has been urged to be linient with Obinwanne Okeke. The call was made by his family members, friends and his cleric.
In fact, Premium Times report claimed that they flooded a US court with appeals for leniency ahead of his sentencing for wire fraud.
In a series of letters of attestation to character sent to Rebecca Smith, the judge handling the case at a Virginia court, they said he deserves a second chance, adding that he would never take part in such actions again.
Recall that before his arrest, he was the chairman of Abuja-based Invictus Group and was listed as one of the influential young entrepreneurs recognised by Forbes.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the arrest of Dubai based Nigerian man Ramon Olorunwa Abbas a.k.a Ray Huspuppi remained a trending topic of discussion on social media. While it may seem like Hushpuppi is the only one who has been caught in the web of international law, it is important to note that there are several other fraudulent Nigerian entertainers who have suffered the same fate at one point or another.
In fact, some of these people have served jail term, completed their time and been reintegrated into the society with stern warnings not to get themselves involved in fraud or other related crimes again.
Legit.ng earlier compiled a list featuring some of these individuals.
