Violence in Kwara: Governor AbdulRazaq alleges plot to foment trouble

Some politicians are planning to foment trouble in Kwara state for their own selfish gains, the state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has said.
According to the governor, the politicians are planning to launch violent attacks on members of the public to allegedly smear his name.
He consequently called on security agencies to take note of the plot to sustain a campaign of calumny against his government.
The governor disclosed this while addressing reporters in Ilorin, the state capital.
AbdulRazaq speaking through his spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye said the objective of the plotters is to create a false image for the governor as a promoter of violence.
He added they are desperately trying to brand the governor as a promoter of thuggery.
However, his adversaries have perfected their plans to constantly link him to violence for their selfish reasons.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that five chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who sustained serious injuries during the recent violent attack at the stakeholders meeting of the Kwara state chapter have been hospitalised.
They are receiving medical attention at undisclosed hospitals in Ilorin, the state capital, This Day reports.
Among those hospitalised are:
Alhaji Dantala Yaro, the state treasurer
Legit.ng had reported how violence erupted at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Ilorin, ahead of the party’s membership registration exercise.
Party members were seen throwing chairs at each other as they engaged in a free for all brawl.
How it started
The Kwara chapter of the party has been embroiled in crisis over the leadership position.
There is said to be a power tussle between the Kwara governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed.
In reaction, Kris Shex said:
"But wait a minute! What type of legacies are these people leaving for their children? How did Nigeria get here? These are just “Professional Tugs” not leaders at all. I see no difference between street tugs and these people except their dressing. This a very big shame to Naija."
