Defection hits Ogun state as House of Assembly minority leader, six others defect to APC

- The ruling All Progressives Congress in Ogun state have received new members

- This time, seven members of the state house of Assembly dumped the APM for the APC

- With this, out of the 26 members of the House, APC now has 22, PDP, one and ADC, three

Recall that Legit.ng reported that in what can be described as a death blow, many top members of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) have dumped the party.

The people that defected are seven in number and are also members of the Ogun House of Assembly.

Specifically, they dumped the APM for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Legit.ng reports that the lawmakers announced their defection in separate letters read by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo (APC – Ifo1) during a plenary in Abeokuta.

Those that defected are:

1. Ganiyu Oyedeji (Ifo 11)

3. Yusuf Amosun (Ewekoro)

4. Sikiratu Ajibola (Ipokia)

6. Adeniran Ademola (Sagamu 11)

7. Modupe Mujota-Onikepo (Abeokuta North).

With this, out of the 26 members of the House, APC now has 22, PDP, one and ADC, three.

Legit.ng had also reported that one of the opposition parties in Nigeria, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) was hit by defection as a member of the House of Representatives, Herman Hembe, joined the ruling APC.

It was reported that Hembe announced his defection from the APGA to the APC on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, during a plenary session.

Legit.ng also reported that Dr Tope Aluko, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state, has decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aluko parted ways with the party on Monday, January 25, saying he is ready to work for Governor Kayode Fayemi who he disclosed has "favoured Iyin Ekiti" where he hails from.

A former secretary of Ekiti PDP, Aluko is a known loyalist of the former governor Ayodele Fayose.

Meanwhile, Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state said he is not ready to leave his party, the PDP and run into a "problem."

The governor reiterated his commitment and loyalty to the opposition party amid high-flying rumours and rising speculations linking him to the ruling blocks, All Progressives Congress.

Wike also promised to complete all the projects his administration has begun before he leaves power, describing Rivers state as an "asset to PDP."
