Buhari appoints Aghughu as auditor-general of the federation

- President Buhari has made two crucial appointments after naming new service chiefs

- The president nominated Aghughu Arhotomhenla Adolphus as the new auditor-general of the federation

- President Buhari also picked Victor Chinemerem Muruako to head the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC)

Aghughu Arhotomhenla Adolphus has been nominated for appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as the auditor-general of the federation.

The nomination of Aghughua is in accordance with section 86(1) of the constitution of Nigeria, Daily Times reports.

The decision of the president was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 26, by his senior special assistant on legislative matters (Senate), Senator Babajide Omoworare.

Moreover, President Buhari has nominated Barrister Victor Chinemerem Muruako for appointment as the head for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) in line with the provision of section 5(3) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007.

Meanwhile, the president on Tuesday announced the appointment of new service chiefs following the resignation of their predecessors.

The Nigerian leader in a tweet via his official Twitter handle noted that he has accepted the immediate resignation of the service chiefs and their retirement from service.

Those involved were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

Legit.ng gathered that the appointments were conveyed in a statement signed by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, and shared on his Facebook page.

The president went on to thank the outgoing service chiefs who were appointed back in 2015 for their overwhelming achievements in efforts to bring enduring peace to the country and wished them well in future endeavours.

While congratulating the new service chiefs, Buhari urged them to be loyal and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The appointment is coming after several Nigerians, prominent personalities, groups advised Buhari to sack the military chiefs following the spate of insecurity across the country.
