Finally, herdsmen begin registration in Ondo state as others leave

- Meanwhile, the government said it is waiting for more of the herdsmen to take advantage of the registration period

Despite their initial refusal to obey the directives of the state government, herdsmen who are illegally occupying the state's forest reserves have conceded defeat.
Consequently, they have started registering as per the directive of the Ondo state government.
The government said this will be used in ejecting unregistered herders from the state’s forest reserves.
This was disclosed by the special adviser to the state governor on security, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, Punch reports.
Meanwhile, herdsmen are reported to have started leaving the state’s forest reserves following the government’s order.
Recall that the order was backed by governors’ forum and the Miyetti Allah at their meeting on Monday, January 25.

The state government is said to still expecting more herders to register.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that in what will excite many people and annoy others, some sources are claiming that there are plans to make Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, the corps marshal of the South West Security Network, code-named Amotekun.
Some governors don't like the idea but the majority were in support of it.
The reason those who supported the move reportedly gave was based on Igboho's passion for the safety of the Yoruba people.
In another development, Legit.ng reported that Nigeria's prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), accused the federal government of portraying itself as the defender of herdsmen in the country.
The senior lawyer made the accusation when he appeared as a guest on a Television Continental (TVC) programme on Sunday, January 24.

Legit.ng noted that Falana was reacting to the directive issued to Fulani herdsmen in Ondo state by Governor Akeredolu, asking them, especially those not registered, to vacate the state's forest reserves.
