Singer Seun Kuti is among several concerned Nigerian parents who have reacted to the federal government's directives for students to return to school amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer in a post shared on Instagram expressed his strong reservation and noted that politicians who gave the green light on the directives do not have their children attending the same schools.

A displeased Kuti went on to submit that the Nigerian ruling elites simply hate the struggling citizens. He described their actions as wickedness.

Kuti said the only reason why primary, secondary and undergraduate students have been forced to return to school is because no one is willing to invest in virtual classrooms.

"The only reason this children and undergrads are forced to resume is because no one is willing to invest in virtual classrooms for them. There is no immediate profit to be made."

Shortly after speaking out, Annie Idibia, wife of singer 2baba also shared his post on her page while expressing the same reservations.

Annie in the post which has been yanked off her page said the reopening of schools is a disturbing development. The concerned mum said she doesn’t think her kids are going to be back in school as she is scared.

"I am not sure I want my kids to go back to school “NOW” with this 2nd wave of COVID!! It’s really out there! I am so SCARED!!"

Annie went on to ask if there are parents that allowed their wards to go to school and how they trusted the school authorities to take the right and appropriate preventive measures.

"And do you TRUST the schools enough to know where the teachers, assistants, cleaners, school chef, security, even the students, where they have been for the last 2weeks? Have they encountered anyone with COVID? Knowing or unknowingly??"

The celebrity mum asked if the school officials have all taken tests to determine their status before resuming to take care of kids. She also expressed worry about kids who would want to exchange physical contact after being away from each other for so long.

Annie stated that she knows people who have caught the virus as she called for more tactfulness in making decisions that involve kids.

"I know people close who caught COVID n still healing from it! That even watched people drop in isolation centres. Please let be wise with the decision we make in the lives of our kids."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the FG said all hands must be on deck to avoid another coronavirus induced lockdown.

The warning was issued following alleged negligence of Nigerians towards COVID-19 safety protocols across the country.

PTF chairman Boss Mustapha said Nigerians must "do everything possible" while striking a balance between "lives and livelihood".
