The federal government has warned that it would shut down the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the states that fail to comply with all COVID-19 protocols.
The Nation reports that the minister of youths and sports development, Sunday Dare, gave the warning during the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, on Monday, January 25.
Legit.ng gathered that the NYSC would not allow youths to be endangered, adding that those already deployed to any state affected would be redeployed to other places.
About 731 members of Batch B corps members had tested positive for COVID-19.
He said:
“It has become necessary that all safety protocols be adhered to, any orientation camp that is not obeying the protocol will simply be closed as the NYSC cannot afford to risk the lives and health of the corps members."
The newspaper noted that 765 members of the current stream of corps members out of the over 22,000 cases tested were confirmed positive.

She attributed the rise in the number of infections to the corps members who came in for NYSC programme.
In a related report, according to the safety protocols issued ahead of the commencement of the 2020 Orientation, NYSC said it is compulsory that everyone coming into the NYSC camps must undergo COVID-19 test.
It said this includes corps members, and officials alike, insisting that only those that test negative will be admitted into the camps.
