A Nigerian nurse in the UK, Adebayo Abimbola, on Thursday, January 21, revealed 'easy' steps others can take to become a registered nurse in the foreign country.

Below are some of them:

1. Take IELTS/OET

She said the first step for them is to get an international passport and write the IELTS test and must have an overall mark of 7.0.

2. Register with NMC

She said they could alternatively take an OET exam which costs around £333 (N173,449). After they have passed that step, they must get registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) on their website.

3. Upload credentials

Abimbola said they should upload things like their international passport, certificate and their IELTS/OET result on the site and pay a fee of £140 (N72,922.30).

4. Pay NMCN

She added that after they have done that, a portal will be opened for them on the NMC website for progress monitoring. The next is to now pay a token of N17,500 to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Nigeria (NMCN).

5. Get your CRM number

After that payment, they will be given a CRM number. An authorisation for a test will be sent to them from Pearson Vue.

6. Look for jobs online

With all those steps cleared, she said that they can now pay the sum of £153 (N79,692.49) and begin looking for UK jobs.

7. Secure a sponsorship letter

After securing a job, they are to get a certification of sponsorship from their employer and go ahead and apply for visa. In the UK, they will need to take a final exam called the OSCE.
