Martin Odegaard is set to become the third Real Madrid player to Premier League club as the Danish midfielder is close to sealing a loan deal to Arsenal, Sport Bible.

The 22-year-old has managed to be in Zinedine Zidane's starting XI in five matches after returning from a successful loan spell at Real Sociedad.

The midfielder was recalled from his loan spell at the end of last season after he flourished under Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil.

However, Odegaard has not been consistent in Zidane's selection leaving the player frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities.

It is understood the midfielder had demanded another loan move and it appears Mikel Arteta's side have won the race to sign Odegaard as Arsenal's technical director Edu has begun negotiations.

Reports from Spain claim Sociedad wanted an option to buy clause included in the loan deal, but Madrid do not want him to move permanently.

Arsenal star Dani Ceballos, who is currently on loan from Real Madrid, spoke about Odegaard's situation.

"I can tell you about what happened to me at Madrid.
"I don't know exactly what happens about Martin, but it is obvious that any player who wants to succeed at Madrid is going to grab the opportunity he has.
"I don't know what Martin's thoughts are but I know mine and I think that when you are young and you have goals and objectives, what you need is to play regularly and if you don't, it's like something is missing.
