Military insists it is winning the war against insurgency, highlights successes recorded

The Nigerian military on Thursday, January 21, maintained that it is winning the war against insurgency and banditry.
Legit.ng gathered that this as troops in conjunction with other security agencies sustain an onslaught against criminals within the country.
Major General John Enenche, the coordinator, Defence Media Operations made the disclosure during a press conference in Abuja and shared on the Facebook page of Defence Headquarters Nigeria.
Enenche in his address highlighted major successes made by the troops across the country from January 14 to 20 2021, adding that the various operations progressed satisfactorily.
According to the DHQ spokesman, the recent operations in Zamfara and Katsina states are evidence of the military’s efforts against insecurity.
He also appealed for members of the public to continually provide the military with actionable information that will assist in decimating all criminal elements.
Legit.ng recalls that soldiers of the Nigerian Army launched attacks on unrepentant bandits in various locations in Zamfara state, killing no fewer than 35 of them.
Enenche, the coordinator, Defence Media Operations made the disclosure in a statement released and shared on the Facebook page of Defence Headquarters Nigeria.
Speaking on military operations, Enenche said troops of Forward Operating Base Kekuwuje during a counter-attack on Sunday, January 17, neutralised 30 armed bandits. The soldiers recovered 24 cows and an unspecified number of sheep.
In a related development, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Tukur Buratai, said that Nigerian troops will turn the table on the insurgent forces like Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandits who are disturbing the country in 2021.
The army chief gave the assurance on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at the TY Buratai Institute for War and Peace in Biu local government area of Borno state.
