A personal assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has subtly mocked the former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku over his post on President Joe Biden.

Atiku in his post had called on the newly sworn-in president to remove every restriction Nigerian citizens. In reply, Ahmad simply wrote: "We all see what you did there, Alhaji."

A little context here.

Leading up to Nigeria's last presidential election in which Atiku contested against Bashir's leader, Buhari, there were allegations that the former VP could not enter the United States of America without being arrested.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) used the allegation as propaganda against the candidacy of Atiku. In fact, after Atiku eventually visited the US, he was alleged to have bought his way there to score political points at home.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have swiftly taken to social media to react to the subtle dig on Atiku.

"He's soliciting on their behalf. Smiling face with open mouth and tightly-closed eyes. But on a very serious note those guys don't rate us, they'll always find a way to support themselves irrespective of political affiliation."

@Yerimajo wrote:

"Exactly my thoughts. I bet he's looking for a soft landing. With the way he is being investigated, I doubt if he will be able to get into the US anytime soon."

@Uchenna_Azorji added:

"We support travel ban for corrupt Nigerian politicians and those who preside over corrupt government. @atiku should remain banned. @MBuhari should also be added to the long list."
