Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, has humorously mocked the federal government's N5,000 package for 24 million poor Nigerians.
In a tweet on Tuesday, January 19, the outspoken former lawmaker and critic stated that with the relief package, the federal government has formalised its membership of the Stingy Men Association of Nigeria (SMAN).
SMAN, a revolt association, was established by popular Nigerian record producer and music entrepreneur Michael Collins Ajereh better known as Don Jazzy.
Legit.ng notes that it was created as a form of funny protest from men who have had enough of giving their hard-earned money to female counterparts.
Background
It would be recalled that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development on Tuesday, January 19, announced 24 million poor Nigerians would be given N5,000 each for a period of six months as part of the current administration's efforts to take people out of poverty.
Shedding light on the development in Abuja via a statement through her aide Nneka Anibeze, humanitarian affairs minister, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, said the program was designed to rapidly identify, register and provide succour to people who were not previously captured in the social register.
In a reaction, Sani said:
"With 5k to Nigerians through conditional cash transfer, the FG has formalized the nation’s membership into the Stingy Convention."
