The Tuesday night, January 19, tie came at a time Frank Lampard is under immense pressure following Chelsea's poor run of form.

The Blues, earlier touted as clear title favourites saw their Premier League form take a nosedive to leave Lampard facing an uncertain future.

Be that as it may, the Englishman did guide his wards to a 4-0 FA Cup win over minnows Moracambe before he picked an unconvincing 1-0 win over 10-man Fulham in the run up to the Leicester fixture to relieve pressure on himself.

However, the west London side failed to build on the momentum when they took on Brendan Rodgers' men, falling to a 2-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium.

It took the hosts just six minutes of game play to break the deadlock through Ndidi who creamed a sensational first-time shot off the left side and into the net.

The visitors settled into the match soon after but could not make their efforts count as Leicester kept frustrating them in the final third.

However, they thought they had won a penalty to equalise after half-hour mark only for VAR to award a free-kick inches outside the area.

Maddison went on to double the advantage three minutes to the break, opening his body before sidefooting past Edouard Mendy.

Justin should have made it 3-0 five minutes into the second half after he appeared to have been set up by James, only for him to fluff the chance from six yards out.

Despite boasting of a huge percentage of ball possession, Chelsea could not make that count, with their efforts to score at least a consolation proving futile.

Leicester eventually held on to cart home all the three points which momentarily sent them top on the standings with 38 points, one ahead of Man United who dropped to second.

Chelsea, on the other hand, moved further down to eighth, with West Ham displacing the from seventh.
