President Buhari reacts to death of Sultan of Sokoto’s brother

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he is shocked over the death of Alhaji Abdulkadir Jeli Abubakar.
The deceased was the younger brother of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.
According to The Sun, a presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said Buhari conveyed his feelings in a condolence message to the Sultan on Friday, January 15.

The president said he is sad over the death of the sultan’s younger brother.
Vanguard reported that Buhari also condoled with the family of the deceased as well as Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state for losing someone dear to all of them.
Legit.ng had reported that the sultan’s brother who is also the Sokoto state commissioner of home affairs, died after a protracted illness.
The sad news was confirmed by Governor Tambuwal’s special adviser on media and publicity, Malam Muhammad Bello.
He said the deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites, adding that Governor Tambuwal described the death as a great loss to the state and nation at large in recognition of his contributions to society..
In another news, a former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday, January 14, lamented that the deadly COVID-19 pandemic has affected Nigeria in many ramifications.
Obasanjo said the virus has claimed the lives of promising Nigerians who in significant measure contributed to the greatness of the country, and until their death, were still resourceful.
The former leader directed his attention to the death of Ndubuisi Kanu, who served as a military governor of Lagos, and Bolu Akin-Olugbade, a famous businessman, The Cable reported.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Yunana Babas, an assistant inspector general of police in charge of Zone 8, The Nation reports.
Though details surrounding the cause of his death have not been made public, Legit.ng notes that the senior police officer's death is coming three days after the death of another AIG, Omololu Bishi.
