According to the announcement of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)'s director-general, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Friday, January 15, postings for 2020 Batch B Stream II corps members are out.
Brigadier Ibrahim revealed this in a conference tagged Protecting The health Of The Nigerian Youth: Safe Reopening Of NYSC Orientation Camps, Punch reports.
He said:
“I want to inform the prospective corps members that their postings have been released. They can go and check it right now.”
Ibrahim also directed corps members to check the NYSC site to know the states they are deployed to.
Meanwhile, no fewer than eleven NYSC members undergoing orientation in Taraba state had tested positive for COVID-19.
Legit.ng reported that the chairperson of the COVID-19 technical committee in Taraba, Innocent Vakkai, made this known in Taraba on Monday, December 21, during a conference, adding that the victims were currently receiving treatments at various isolation centres in the state.
Vakkai, who is also the commissioner for health, urged residents of the state to be cautious of the pandemic as he asked the members of the public to always observe COVID-19 protocols to mitigate the spread of the disease.
In another report, the NYSC stated that there was no case of coronavirus in any of the scheme's 37 orientation camps.
This was made known on Sunday, November 29, by the management of the corps while debunking a report in the media that the rising figure of the COVID-19 was as a result of cases detected at the NYSC camps.
NYSC further explained that it partnered with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to test all the prospective corps members reporting for their compulsory three-week orientation programme.
