Meet Nancy Pelosi, the woman who impeached President Trump twice

President Donald Trump has been impeached by the United States House of Representatives for the second time in two years. The first time, he was accused of pressurising the Ukrainian government to investigate Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden, his prospective opponent at that time.

Then, he was slammed with 5 accusations ranging from "obstruction of justice," "violation of the foreign emoluments clause," "violation of the domestic emoluments clause," "undermining the independence of the federal judiciary" and "undermining the freedom of the press".

This time, the impeachment resolution charges Trump with a single article, "incitement of insurrection."

In all this, one woman stands out. Her name is, Nancy Pelosi. The speaker of the House of representatives. She is the only woman in the history of America to serve as a speaker. She is also the first woman in the history of America to impeach a president twice.

1. She was born in Baltimore to an Italian-American family.

2. She is the only girl and the youngest of seven children of her parents.

3. Pelosi's brother, Thomas D'Alesandro III, also a Democrat, was Mayor of Baltimore from 1967 to 1971.

4. In 1958, she graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame, an all-girls Catholic high school in Baltimore.

5. She graduated from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., with a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1962.

6. Pelosi was first elected to Congress in 1987, following her father.

7. Pelosi represents California's 12th congressional district

8. Pelosi has led the House Democrats since 2003.

9. She is the first woman to lead a party in Congress—serving twice each as House minority leader (2003–07 and 2011–19) and as Speaker (2007–11 and since 2019).
