While a good number of prominent Nigerians have declared their membership of a trending group known as Stingy Men Association of Nigeria (SMAN), some others have regarded the whole idea with disdain.
One outspoken former Nigerian senator who has reacted to the establishment of the group is Shehu Sani.
On his Twitter page on Wednesday, January 13, the former federal lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central asked who will pay for the registration of the group, the venue for its meetings, and refreshment.
He wrote:
"Stingy men ‘Association’; who among them will pay for the registration, the venue of the meeting, and refreshments?"
Meanwhile, Nigerians in the online community have been humoured in the past few days following the formation of the faux association for men on social media.

The faux group was created as a form of revolt from men who have had enough of giving their hard-earned money to female counterparts.
Although the trend started with just a few social media users, it gathered momentum with several notable male personalities in the entertainment industry using their voices to amplify the existence of the association.
As if that is not enough, some of these superstars have also declared membership of the group and shared identification cards on their social media platforms.
In light of this development, Legit.ng compiled a list of some popular male celebrities who are at the forefront of the faux association.
