A number of Nigerians have been known to blame the rot in the society on its leaders but time and events have shown that even its citizens have a long way to go before the country can get better.
Just recently, a Twitter user identified as Ayoappeal, took to his page to share the dismaying story of how a man who had the interest of his neighbours at heart was made to regret his kindness.
According to Ayo, the man had volunteered to buy a streetlight for a street close to his house and to also power it with his generator.
However, his generator suddenly stopped working and it was discovered that some people had tapped light from it to power their own homes.

Ayo explained further that it was later discovered that a building that had 14 rooms was using the electricity generated from the streetlight and some of them even had heavy loads on it as they were using it to power their fridges and electric cookers.
The Twitter user said the man vowed to disconnect the street light after his generator was fixed.
