It was a trade mark Messi finish who sent in a low-drive into the far post for Barcelona’s third of the night.
Antoine Griezmann had put the Catalan giants ahead in the 12th minute, and then Messi expertly guided the ball into the net with his left foot in the 35th minute to make it 2-0.
But it was Messi’s second that stunned his kids back home, as his 5-year-old Matteo was seen in a footage as he screamed ‘Golazo’ while 2-year-old Ciro jumps in excitement.
Golazo is a soccer expression referring to an amazing goal, a term which is used by Spanish speakers all around the world.
Griezmann grabbed yet another goal late on to complete the rout as Barcelona won 4-0 away from home.
The 33-year-old Messi has now scored the most braces of any player in the 21st century, doing so in 137 different games as he also gets his 11ht of the season.
Meanwhile, reports from Spain have it that Messi could eventually decide to sign new deal at Barcelona due to the huge performance of summer signing Pedri.
The Barcelona captain whose contract is billed to lapse at the end of the season has been linked with Premier League club Manchester City as well as Ligue 1 outfit PSG.
He almost left the club last summer after he had tendered his transfer request, but was forced to stay back as the club cited a clause in his contract.
But more so than the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho in recent years, the 18-year-old has hit the ground running.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi’s contract at Barcelona will lapse in the summer of 2021 and so far, the Argentine is yet to put pen on paper for the renewal of his contract, meaning he will be free at the end of the season.
The Argentine is among the 30 most valuable players listed to be available on a free transfer next year.
Bayern Munich’s David Alaba is second on the list as he is worth £58.5 million and there are huge chances he won’t remain at the club beyond next season.
