Hoodlums attack Amotekun, burn van, destroy their office in Oyo state
- The southwest security network known as Amotekun has been attacked in Oyo state
- The incident took place on Tuesday, January 5, while the personnel were trailing suspected kidnappers in a community
- Officials of the agency were accosted by hoodlums in Ibarapa north LGA of the state

Personnel of the Oyo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun were on Tuesday, January 5, attacked by some hoodlums around Tapa in Ibarapa north local government area of the state.
The hoodlums burnt the patrol van of the security officials and along with their office in the community, Nigerian Tribune reports.
The Amotekun personnel were said to be on the trail of suspected abductors in the community when they stopped by hoodlums, who were suspected to be informants to kidnappers.
A source told the news publication said the hoodlums shot at the Amotekun personnel, who in turn fired back.
Speaking further, the source explained that 3 hoodlums were killed in the attack as the others pretended that indigenes of the town were shot by Amotekun personnel.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that some herdsmen attacked members of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, on a farm at Osi Community in the southwestern state.
Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander of Amotekun, made the disclosure to journalists in Akure, the state capital.
The herdsmen were said to have attacked the agency officials while the operatives were trying to settle a rift between them and the farmers in the community in Akure north local government area of the state on Wednesday, December 9.

In a related development, Colonel Olayinka Olayanju (retd), the commander of Oyo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun, said some of the aides of Governor Seyi Makinde are indirectly backing hoodlums terrorising the people of the state.
The Amotekun commander disclosed this on Tuesday, January 5, while speaking on a radio station, Fresh FM.
The residents of Ibadan communities have recently been living in constant fears following the increased cases of hoodlum attacks.
