President Muhammadu Buhari held a closed door meeting with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State at the State House, Abuja.
This was disclosed in a tweet by Bashir Ahmad, a personal assistant on new media to the president, via his verified Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad on Wednesday, January 6.
It was gathered that the Nigerian leader held the meeting with Bello in company of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state and Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
Although the purpose of the meeting is yet unknown, Legit.ng notes that it may be connected with President Buhari advising Bello and Buni on issues concerning Nigeria and the ruling party.
The meeting is coming on the heels of campaign posters of Bello flooding some major roads in Kano state.
The posters carrying inscriptions suggesting the governor’s 2023 presidential ambitions, were spotted in some areas of the foremost northern commercial city.
The posters do not bear any party’s logo but there was a big inscription which reads: ‘For generational change 2023, vote Yahaya Bello for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.’ Read more:

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that members of the Kogi state House of Assembly called on Governor Bello to put his hat in the ring for the presidency in 2023.
According to the lawmakers, the governor ticked all the right boxes for the presidential seat and should be backed by all Nigerians to take over from President Buhari.
However, Bello declared that he is focused on delivering his mandate of rebuilding Kogi state now, amid calls from his associates to contest the 2023 presidential election.
He made the comment on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the security and economic summit of the Northcentral Governors Forum in Benue state.
