Durojaiye Ajeyalemi: UNILAG loses another professor to COVID-19

Professor Durojaiye Ajeyalemi, a former dean of Students’ Affairs, University of Lagos (UNILAG), has died of COVID-19.
Ajeyalemi, until his demise on Wednesday, January 6, was a professor of Curriculum Studies, Nigerian Tribune reports.
Confirming the professor's death which has been reported as the result of COVID-19 complications, UNILAG's deputy VC (academic and research) Oluwole Familoni, said:
“It is a truth that Professor Ajeyalemi has died early this morning. He died in the hospital and LUTH to be specific and it is very painful we lost two of our great scholars in an interval of five days.”
A report from Premium Times revealed that the professor died at the isolation centre at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba.
Meanwhile, a former vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, had been declared dead.
Professor Ibidapo-Obe was, until his death, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the Council of First Technical University, Ibadan.
His death was confirmed in a statement on Sunday, January 3, by the registrar and secretary to the council of the university, Olayinka Balogun.

Part of the statement read:
“With heavy heart, and submission to the will of God I write to inform Council members of the transition to glory of Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, First Technical University, Ibadan which occurred today 03/01/2021."
“I pray for the repose of the soul of the departed.”
Although the statement did not disclose the cause of Professor Ibidapo-Obe's death, some media reports stated that he died from COVID-19 complications.
