Emir of Daura’s brother, Abdullahi Umar dies in fatal accident

A fatal road accident has claimed the life of Abdullahi Umar Maitaro, the younger brother of the emir of Daura.

Daily Trust reported that the accident occurred on Sunday, January 3, at Muduru village along Katsina/Daura Road.

In addition to the emir’s brother, two of his friends who were in the vehicle with him also died from the crash, while one other, is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Witnesses said Maitaro’s vehicle had a head-on collision with another car while attempting to dodge a tricyclist who suddenly made a u-turn in front of him.

Vanguard reported that the Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, and other top government officials visited Daura on Monday, January 4, to condole with the emir over the loss.

The governor prayed for the reposed soul of the deceased and that God grant the emir, emirate, and deceased’s family, the fortitude to bear the loss.

In another news, President Muhammadu Buhari has described the deaths of two leading members of the Zazzau Emirate in Kaduna state as a double tragedy.

The president in a message on Friday, January 1, said the death of the Iyan Zazzau, Alhaji Bashir Aminu and Talban Zazzau, Abubakar Pate came to him as a shock, The Guardian reported.

According to a statement issued by a presidential aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari expressed sadness over the tragedy and condoled the families of the departed prices.
