Tragedy hit the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, in the early parts of 2021 when veteran actress, Folake Aremu popularly known as Orisabunmi, kicked the bucket.

The report of her demise made the rounds on social media on January 6, 2021. However, the cause of her death was not revealed but it was said that she had died during the night.

Filmmaker, Tunde Ola-Yusuf, took to his social media page to mourn the veteran star. According to him, she left without a goodbye.

He added that the death was a shock to everyone and prayed for her soul to rest among those of the righteous.

“ADIEU. She left without a Good bye. The sudden death of Mrs Fokake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced.

The actress who was said to be born on October 10, 1960, was discovered by her former husband, Chief Jimoh Aliu, in the 80s while he worked as a teacher in Kwara state.

She reportedly got her stage name after she appeared in a stage play called Ori Ma Binu and she played the role of Orisabunmi.

It was reported by Metronews.ng that she was trained by her ex-husband, but she gained the ability to recite incantations because she came from a background of masquerades.

May her soul rest in peace.
