A nurse in California who works in the Emergency Room (ER) has disclosed that he tested positive for COVID-19 more than a week after receiving the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.
According to Reuters, the nurse, Matthew said in a Facebook post on December 18 that he had received the Pfizer vaccine.
He, however, told ABC News affiliate that he became sick days after working a shift in the COVID-19 unit.
He said he experienced chills before coming down with muscle aches and fatigue.
On December 26, he reportedly went to a hospital to get tested for the virus and tested positive.
However, health experts who weighed in on the case, said such an occurrence is not unexpected.
According to Dr Christian Ramers, an infectious disease specialist with Family Health Centers of San Diego, it is possible that Matthew was infected before receiving the vaccine.
He also explained that the vaccine clinical trials showed that it takes about 10 to 14 days for an individual to start developing protection from the vaccine.
