Christmas: FG declares December 25, 28, January 1, 2021 public holidays

- Nigerians will be enjoying three days holiday this festive period as announced by the FG through the interior ministry

- The minister, Rauf Aregbesola, also sent a warm greeting to all Christians across the country ahead of Christmas and New Year

- According to him, the country needs prayers from the Christians especially during this period

The federal government has declared Friday, December 25, Monday, December 28, and Friday, January 1, 2021, as public holidays.

Legit.ng reports that the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who made the announcement on Wednesday, December 23, said the holidays are to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year.

The federal government felicitated with Christians and all Nigerians both at home and abroad on this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Aregbesola, however, urged Christians to adopt the creed of Christ on faith, hope and love.

The minister also named two critical factors needed to enable the government to accomplish its mission of revitalising the economy, which are peace and security.

Aregbesola urged Nigerians, especially Christians, to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 guidelines that have been issued by relevant authorities, during and after the yuletide.

Wishing Nigerians a happy Christmas and New Year celebrations, the minister expressed confidence that the year 2021 would be a better one for all, as he urged Christians to use the period to pray for the nation.

Meanwhile, in the spirit of Christmas, a man with the Twitter handle @AlaniDebe has taken to social media to show love to Nigerians by offering to gift chicken to any family who needs it.

Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian man said he has a couple of layers he would like to share with families living around Kosofe, Somolu and Mushin areas of Lagos.

He further stated that he would personally deliver the birds to people that indicate interest in having them.

In his words:

"If you know a family that won’t mind a chicken this Xmas. Kindly let me know. I have a couple of layers I’d want to share. Please it’s better if they are around Kosofe, Somolu, Mushin or the LCDA that falls under them. I’d personally bring it to them if under any of this LG."
