Goodluck Jonathan: Ex-president meets Buhari at Aso Rock

For an umpteenth time in the year 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari and former president Goodluck Jonathan met again behind closed doors at the Aso Rock presidential villa.
The meeting, which was held on Tuesday, December 23, was disclosed by Bashir Ahmad, a media aide to the president.
The meeting came hours after President Buhari met with former vice president Namadi Sambo at the presidential villa.
Sambo, a Kaduna born politician, was Nigeria's vice president from 2010 to 2015, under the Jonathan presidency.

Addressing the pressmen after the meeting, Jonathan who handed power to the incumbent president having lost the presidential election in 2015, said he was at the Aso Rock to brief Buhari about the political situation in The Gambia.
The Gambia, a West African state, is facing a political crisis after its president Adama Barrow said he is seeking reelection despite the crisis in the country.
The declaration has made some groups to embark on a protest asking President Barrow to honour the agreement that he would only serve a single term.
Speaking further, Jonathan, who was an active ECOWAS envoy to Mali, said he briefed the president about the outcome of his mission to the Gambian capital, Banjul.

Meanwhile, Dino Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi West, has tendered an apology to former president Jonathan for discrediting his efforts when he was in power.
Melaye made this remark on Tuesday, December 15, in Abuja during a book launch in the honour of the former president titled "Dear President Goodluck Jonathan.
The book, which was written by a veteran journalist, Bonaventure Melah, captures the former president's life in the office. The event was graced by former and serving lawmakers, party chieftains and governors including Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state and Udom Gabriel Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
