Juventus' title contention suffered a major setback following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina at the Allianz Stadium.

The loss was the Old Lady's heaviest since the 2020-21 campaign kicked off in the ninth month of the outgoing year.

Dusan Vlahovic needed just three minutes to hand the visitors the lead through a classy finish after chipping the ball above the reach of Wojciech Szczesny.

It was a beautiful counter-attacking move as Andrea Pirlo's men were out there looking for an early goal but their high-line defence backfired on them.

The night got even worse for the Serie A defending champions after the centre referee handing Juan Cuadrado straight red for a dangerous tackle on Gaetano Castrovilli in the 18th minute.

However, Pirlo's men managed to keep the scoreline honourable in the opening half as they were able to keep their guests from disturbing their goalkeeper.

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo gave his best but it appeared that was not good enough for the hosts.

The 35-year-old scored a beautiful header but the goal was chopped off for offside even without the consultation of VAR as he was already standing in that position before the cross was made.

Juve's defeat came hours after losing three points they were initially awarded for a Napoli no-show earlier in the season and they are now fourth with seven points behind AC Milan on the log.
