Lionel Messi has finally spoken out as he enters into the final six months of his contract at Barcelona.

The 33-year-old submitted a transfer request during the summer but later rescinded his decision to stay the Camp Nou.

The Argentine superstar decided to see out the remaining one year in his deal and would make a final decision whether to move on or not.

However, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner has been allowed to speak with potential clubs when the winter window resumes in January.

Barcelona did land a silverware last season and were humiliated in last season's Champions League quarter-finals in the 8-2 demolition at the hands of eventual winners Bayern Munich.

And La Blaugrana have not started the current campaign well under Ronald Koeman losing four matches out of 13 on the domestic scene.

On the other hand, Messi has insisted that he will help the club fight for every trophy this season despite their bumping start into the 2020-21 season.

The Argentina international told La Sexta quoted by Goal:

"The truth is that today I'm fine. It's true that I had a very bad time in the summer.
"It came from before. What happened before the summer, because of how the season ended, the burofax and all that... Then I dragged it on a bit at the beginning of the season.
"But today I'm fine and I feel like fighting seriously for everything that lies ahead, [I'm] excited.

"I know that the club is going through a difficult time, at club level and everything that surrounds Barcelona, but I'm looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi has reportedly accepted to halve his £750,000-a-week wages to join Manchester City in the summer, Daily Star.

The Argentine submitted a transfer request during the summer but decided to see out the rest of his contract with Barcelona.

The 33-year-old is allowed to speak to a potential buyer in January and reports claim that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner is ready to accept a wage cut to reunite with Pep Guardiola at City.
