Barcelona could cash-in on Philippe Coutinho in January to free up space in their financial books, reports in Spain claim.
The 28-year-old is understood to have agreed to temporarily halve his wage of more than £200,000 a week last season.
However, the Spanish giants are avoiding going into more financial problems and reports claim the Brazilian will be sold in the new year.
Coutinho had a promising start to the season as he was used in his natural number ten role where he provided two assists and scored against Sevilla.
He also found the back of the net against Ferencvaros only to be slowed down by a hamstring injury limiting him to only two of Barcelona's four European matches.
Coutinho spent the entire last season with Bayern Munich and was part of the side that won the ultimate treble including the Champions League.
He grabbed a brace and provided two assists in the quarter-finals against Barca as the Bavarians destroyed their Spanish counterparts on their way to glory.
Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Pedri have all been deployed in a central role since Coutinho was moved to the left wing by Ronald Koeman.
