1. Bud Collyer
Bud Collyer was the first actor to portray The Man of Steel in the media (both on the radio and in the classic cartoons from the Fleischer and Famous studios).
The actor played The Man of Steel for roughly 2000 radio episodes that aired between 1940 and 1951.
He then returned to the role in 1966 for Filmation’s The New Adventures of Superman animated series.
As the only Superman of radio, the silver screen, and television, he has logged more hours as the Man of Steel than any actor in history.

In a Men's’Health December cover story, Cavill revealed he had not given up the role.
“The cape is still in the closet,” he said. “It’s still mine. I’m not going to sit quietly in the dark as all the stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books.
