Herdsmen attack leaves four dead, seven injured in Makurdi
- A fresh attack by some suspected herdsmen has left four people dead in Benue state
- The victims of the attack are residents of Tse-Angbande community in Makurdi local government area

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state on Saturday, December 12, confirmed a herdsmen attack on Tse-Angbande community in Makurdi local government area of the state left four persons dead.
According to a press release by the Benue state government sent to Legit.ng, the attack which took place on Friday night, December 11, left seven others badly injured.
The governor, Samuel Ortom confirming the incident when he visited the scene of the attack on Saturday, December 12, said the herdsmen struck around 11 pm while people were asleep.
While assuring the people that security has been beefed up to ensure 24 hours vigilance in the affected area, the governor urged residents of the affected communities to cooperate with security operatives.
Ortom speaking further after he visited victims of the attack who are receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi condemned the barbaric act.
The governor stated that he was in the hospital to identify with those who were being treated after they escaped the attack.
He stressed that his administration would not relent until the attacks on his people end, adding that the Benue state governemnt would take over the treatment of those injured.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Governor Ortom maintained that no amount of threat, intimidation, or arm twisting will make him reverse the anti-open grazing law.

The governor on Monday, August 17, had raised the alarm that Miyeitti Allah groups were planning to impose violence on Benue state.
He called on security agencies to check the activities of the group and bring their members to justice for their crimes. Ortom disclosed these in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase.
In a related development, some herdsmen attacked members of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, on a farm at Osi Community in the southwestern state.
Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the state commander of Amotekun, made the disclosure to journalists in Akure, the state capital.
