Dozens of students kidnapped by armed men in Katsina state

A report by HumAngle indicates that dozens of students were kidnapped by bandits from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara local government area of Katsina state on Friday, December 11.
Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker representing Kaduna central senatorial district also confirmed the abduction of the students in a tweet on Saturday, December 12.
According to the report, gunmen invaded the school at about 11 pm and launched an attack on the area that lasted for over two hours. At the end of the raid, an unconfirmed number of students and residents were declared missing from the town.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a police officer noted that the bandits invaded the school on foot and abducted an undisclosed number of students.
The policeman also said that the armed men shot the school's gatemen and another officer. He added that they are alive and receiving treatment.
Eyewitnesses giving an account of the terrible attack stated that between 10:00 - 11:00 pm gunmen numbering about 100 stormed the school and started shooting sporadically in the hostels.
This development unfortunately forced many students to run into the bush for help.
Meanwhile, Daily Nigerian is reporting that at least 600 out of 800 students are missing from the school after the bandits invaded Kankara town on Friday night.
A schoolteacher speaking on the condition of anonymity said the bandits launched the attack shortly after prep at 9:30 pm.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted the brother of the minister of agriculture and rural development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono.
The gunmen stormed the family house of the minister and abducted his blood brother, Babawuro Tofai.
The personal assistant to the minister, Umar Wali also confirmed the abduction to a Kano-based online newspaper. According to Wali, the gunmen attacked the house around 1.00 am on Monday, November 23.
