Two suspects involved in the kidnapping of an American citizen, Philippe Nathan Walton, have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Legit.ng gathered that Walton was abducted from his farm in Masalata Village, Republic of Niger on October 28.
According to a press release by DCP Frank Mba, Force spokesman, the two male suspects are members of a 15-man transnational kidnap syndicate of Nigerian/Nigerien extraction, led by Barte Dan Alhaji and Dan Buda.
The suspects who are both from Sokoto state were identified as Aliyu Abdullahi, 21, a.k.a Mallam, and Aliyu Umaru, 23, a.k.a Kwatte Kusu.
Their arrest was made possible by a special intelligence-led operation aimed at arresting the criminal gang on November 25.
The gang was reportedly plotting other abductions to avenge the death of their members who died during the rescue operations but they met their waterloo.
The police said they are collaborating with its Nigerien counterpart to arrest other members of the transnational syndicate at large.

In a related development, the lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the Senate during 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has advised Nigerian governors following the spate of kidnappings and killings in many states.
Sani in a thread of tweet on Wednesday, December 9, asked the governors led by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state to use their security votes to pay ransom for the kidnap victims.
He, however, consoled the families of the victims of bandit attacks and massacre in the Giwa local government area of Kaduna state, saying the killings of Nigerians should be stopped.
