President Muhammadu Buhari refused to address members of the National Assembly and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given reasons for this.
According to the opposition party, Buhari has nothing to tell Nigerians.
Punch reports that PDP national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this allegation known on Thursday, December 10.
“Mr President is afraid of the obvious, he knows he has nothing to tell Nigerians on the security situation in the country. That is why he is running from the National Assembly. He also failed in every area of governance including security."
The House of Representatives had recently invited Buhari over the rising insecurity and the killing of over 43 farmers in Borno state.
Recall that Legit.ng had reported that in what many Nigerians have described as an embarrassment, APC governors urged Buhari not to address members of the lawmakers.
The governors said the lawmaker may want to use the opportunity to harass and embarrass the president.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have reacted to the latest development, with many people supporting the PDP's view.
Bright Samuel wrote:
"Please let the president resign for good. I think that will be a great honor to him if he does that. Since he can not address his own people in public, let him go and rest. He has tried, at least for making food and petrol more expensive."
Hassan Bappah added:
"The root of this problem is PDP so they should stop blaming Buhari."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that in efforts to tackle the rising spate of criminality and insecurity in the country, Buhari called on all governors in the federation to partner with local communities.
The president said it is necessary for the governors to work more with traditional rulers and community members.
According to Buhari, in a statement released by his aide on media, Garba Shehu, this will help improve local intelligence gathering. He said most importantly, this will aid the work of security agencies in tackling the insecurity menace.
