In what will be a hugely anticipated event, President Muhammadu Buhari will finally speak on the insecurity issues in the country.
To this end, Buhari will on Thursday, December 10, address a joint session of the National Assembly.
The president will tell the country the steps he is taking to stop Nigerians from continuous killings, kidnapping and other forms of lawlessness.
This was disclosed by presidential media aide, Lauretta Onochie in a tweet on Monday, December 7.
Recall that members of the House of Representatives had recently invited Buhari to appear on the floor of the Nigerian parliament.
According to them, the president has to speak on his efforts to stop the rising spate of insecurity in the country.
This followed the killing of farmers in Borno state by Boko Haram members.
Also, the Senate had also asked Buhari to sack his service chiefs.
Recall that Legit.ng had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the House of Representatives argued in favour of President Buhari’s immediate impeachment over the insecurity in the country.
Kingsley Chinda, the leader of the PDP caucus in the House gave three reasons why an impeachment proceeding should be commenced against the president.
Chinda in a statement pointed out that Buhari should be impeached over alleged incompetence.
Legit.ng had also reported that the festering insecurity across the 19 northern states in Nigeria had turned the northern establishment against President Buhari.
According to the report, the regional leaders, who hitherto were supporters of the president, are now of the view that Buhari had woefully failed in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the region, especially regarding the security of lives and properties.
