Ex-Governor Seriake Dickson Wins Bayelsa Senatorial By-Election

The immediate past governor of Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson, has won a senatorial by-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.
Dickson, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won with a landslide as he polled 115,257 against Peremobowei Ebebi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who had 17,500 votes.
PM NEWS reports that Dickson had a major breakthrough in Sagbama local government area with 109,420 registered voters.
Out of the figure of registered voters and 76,805 votes cast, Dickson had 68,056 while Ebebi scored just 7,303 votes.
The report added that in Ekeremor local government area, INEC announced 125,189 as the total registered voters.
Out of this, the exercise had a total of 59,451 votes cast and Dickson had 47,201 while Ebebi had 10,238.
Legit.ng earlier reported that in Lagos, Tokunbo Abiru of the APC was declared the winner of a senatorial by-election held in the state.
Abiru defeated Babatunde Gbadamosi of the PDP who now claims that the election was rigged.
Expressing his dissatisfaction on the process on Saturday, December 5, after casting his vote at polling unit 14, Isele ward 1, Ikorodu local government area, the former governorship candidate said the voters were not properly educated on the schedule of the election.
On his part, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos said residents of the state still have confidence in the ruling APC.

The governor said this in a congratulatory statement he released following the victory of the party in the senatorial by-election that just ended in the state. The statement was obtained by Legit.ng.
Sanwo-Olu, who also congratulated the APC candidate for Kosofe constituency 2 at the state House of Assembly, Obafemi Saheed, said he was elated as a result of the victory recorded by the party with wide margins.
