Lagos bye-elections: PDP candidate Gbadamosi says INEC failed to educate voters

Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the ongoing bye-election in Lagos state, has scolded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over what he termed as the commission's failure to educate the voters.
Expressing his dissatisfaction on the process on Saturday, December 5, after casting his vote at polling unit 14, Isele ward 1, Ikorodu local government area, the former governorship candidate said the voters were not properly educated on the schedule of the election, TCV news reports.
He, however, commended the process and described it as peaceful. He also called for caution from the side of the electoral commission.
Gbadamosi is vying for the Lagos East senatorial seat in a keen contest against a former banker and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Tokunbo Abiru.
The seat has been vacant following the demise of the previous occupant, Senator Adebayo Sikiru Osinowo popularly known as Pepperito who died due to the complication from the coronavirus infection on June 15, 2020, at the age of 64.
Policemen drown in Bayelsa
Meanwhile, three unnamed policemen reportedly drowned on their way to Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa state.
The speedboat in which they were travelling capsized on the eve of the senatorial bye-election holding across two districts in the state.
Governor's aide arrested for alleged vote-buying
The special adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on civil service and labour matters, Abdon Dalla Gin, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged vote-buying.
The anti-graft agency allegedly found the sum of N1.5 million in Dallas’ car after he cast his votes in the ongoing bye-election in Bauchi state.

In a related development Legit.ng reported that Olajide Adediran, a chieftain of the APC in Lagos, disclosed that he would be vying for the governorship ticket in the state come 2023.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 18, the journalist and businessman-turned-politician said although no official preparation has been kickstarted on the election, he will run for the Lagos highest position.
