Maina: Police extradite ex-pension boss from Niger Republic

The former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, was on Thursday, December 3, extradited from Niger Republic.
The extradition of Maina was done by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) confirmed by the Nigerian Police Force.
According to the NPF, Maina was brought into the country aboard an NPF Jet 5N-HAR and landed at Abuja on Thursday.
The efforts of Interpol that led to the arrest and extradition of the embattled former Nigerian public servant was applauded by Inspector-General of Police (IGP) M.A Adamu.
IGP Adamu also noted that necessary legal actions will follow immediately against Maina.

Earlier, the police spokesman, Frank Mba, on Tuesday, December 1, announced that Maina was still in detention in Niger Republic.
According to Mba, the NPF was concluding extradition plans for the embattled former boss of the PRTT so as to enable the commencement of the criminal proceedings.
In his statement on Tuesday, the police public relations officer assured Nigerians that there shall be no hiding place for any suspect running from prosecution.

“Following the arrest of former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrashid Abdullahi Maina in Niamey, Niger Republic, the Nigeria Police Force is perfecting extradition processes of the fugitive to Nigeria to enable him face trial in pending criminal proceedings against him.
“He is currently in a detention facility in the Niger Republic awaiting the completion of the extradition processes.
“The force assures the citizens, that there shall be no hiding place for any suspect, no matter how highly placed.”
