The Northern Elders Forum has again renewed its call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, December 2, the spokesman of the forum, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said facts have supported their calls for the president to resign.
His words:
“The fact on the ground supports what we are saying. The situation under him is getting worse and there is no indication that it is likely to improve.”

Meanwhile, some Nigerians have been sharing their thoughts on the call of the forum via social media.
Kitan Kayla wrote on Twitter:
“This man's resignation is long overdue....but as usual let us keep calling black white....it's been the new normal under these incompetent bunch.”
Agbo Matthew Otu wrote:
“The Nigerian government under Buhari has failed in all aspects of human endeavor. It's so sad we have people who still support and worship this government.”
Dominic Johnson wrote:
“Buhari is not failing Nigeria. Nigerians are the problems of this country with their level of inconsistency and hypocrisy. How would we vote and support someone that never had ideas on how governance looks like in the 21st century? We put ourselves into this.”
Chidiebere Nwobodo wrote:
“The monstrous beast the north nurtured, is devouring her now. The highfalutin hypocrisy of the region and its tolerance for mediocrity has caught up with her. I am sorry, Buhari is not going anywhere.”
Recall that 44 rice farmers were killed by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state while harvesting their crops in Zabarmari, a Borno community known for rice farming.
The farmers were rounded up and summarily killed by the armed insurgents according to eye-witnesses.
The incident sparked several calls for the president and his security chiefs to resign.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, has condemned the incessant abductions and killings by bandits in northern Nigeria.
Alhaji Abubakar, who is the leader of Nigerian Muslims by virtue of his position as the president-general of the Jamaatu Nasril Islam, made the comment on Thursday, November 26 at the 4th quarter 2020 meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council in Abuja.
