Trump's longtime lawyer discusses possible pardon before US president leaves office

- With less than three months as the US president, Donald Trump is in talks to possibly grant another pardon to a member of his inner circle

- Rudy Giuliani has reportedly asked Trump about receiving a preemptive pardon before he leaves office in January 2021

- Giuliani has not yet been charged with a crime but has been the focus of a criminal investigation

Rudolph Giuliani, the personal defence lawyer to Donald Trump has discussed the possibility of receiving a pre-emptive pardon from the US President before he leaves office, according to The New York Times.

The international media publication citing two people with knowledge of the discussion noted that though it's not clear who brought up the conversion, both men recently talked about a pardon for Giuliani.

It was gathered that Trump’s lawyer led the most extensive efforts to damage the president’s political rivals and undermine the election results.

However, the outspoken American leader has not indicated if he will pardon the former Mayor of New York City as he is yet to be convicted or charged with a crime

Though Giuliani's criminal activities aren't quite clear, he was, nonetheless, under investigation for business dealings in Ukraine last summer.

His role in the sacking of Marie Yovanovitch, the American ambassador in Ukraine, was also probed. This was part of the scandal that led to the impeachment proceedings against Trump.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Michael Flynn is finally off the hook as he has been granted a presidential pardon by President Trump.

The announcement of the pardon to the US former national security adviser was made on Wednesday, November 25, by President Trump in a tweet.
